According to reports, the Punjab government’s plea for an investigation into the death of musician Sidhu Moose Wala by a sitting high court judge was denied.
According to PTI’s citation of unnamed sources, the court administration has addressed a notification to the state government about this.
Unknown perpetrators in Punjab’s Mansa district shot and killed Moosewala on May 29, according to police.
After Bhagwant Mann, the chief minister visited Moosewala’s house in Mansa, the family of the dead musician received assurances that his murderers would be apprehended shortly.
Moose Wala’s father Balkaur Singh had requested that the Punjab government form a judicial committee, which was announced on Monday.
There are now 38 vacancies on the high court’s bench, and the administration of the court has allegedly informed the government that it is unable to spare one judge due to the backlog of about 4.50 lakh cases.
A letter from Punjab’s Principal Secretary (Home) Anurag Verma to the High Court’s Registrar General on May 30 said that the government was “very worried” about the tragedy and wanted to find out what caused it so that the perpetrators of the horrific crime may be brought to justice.
For the Hon’ble Chief Justice, Punjab and Haryana High Court, an inquiry led by a sitting judge of the Hon’ble Punjab and Haryana High Court has been requested. “I have been asked to relay the request of the Hon’ble Chief Minister.”
The family of Moose Wala has also written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, asking for a central investigation into the heinous murder of the well-known Punjabi musician.
Moose Wala’s family has received assurances of justice from Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat about Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known as Sidhu Moose Wala.
According to Shekhawat, who was asked about an investigation by the National Investigative Agency (NIA), the investigation would be carried out in accordance with the law.
On Thursday, Chief Minister Shekhar Singh Shekhawat was joined by BJP state president Ashwani Sharma, Sunil Jakhar and Arvind Khanna to pay their respects to the late singer.
Balkaur Singh, the father of Sidhu Moose Wala, had addressed a letter to Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann requesting that the matter be probed by a high court judge already sitting there and that the NIA or CBI be requested to help.
The minister added that the family wants to know who was responsible for the terrible murder and that no one should be spared.
When Sidhu Moose Wala and two pals were on their way to see his aunt in another hamlet on May 29, they were ambushed by a group of armed men.
Shekhawat said that the state government’s decision to reduce security and make it public was ill-advised. When the protection was suddenly removed for no apparent cause, the individual who was previously shielded became susceptible to assault.
It is up to the Bhagwant Mann administration to explain if the danger perception was evaluated or whether the security of over 400 people was limited without any revision of the threat assessment and merely for political motives.
