It is possible that the quantity of cash seized by ED officials from the Belgharia Club Town Heights apartment may rise when they count the notes to determine the exact amount.
• Arpita Mukherjee, a close acquaintance of West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee, has been detained in connection with a school recruitment fraud, and the ED says it has seized Rs 20 crore in cash and jewelry from a Kolkata property related to Mukherjee.
• Just five days prior to this, the Enforcement Directorate said that it had confiscated Rs 21 crore from a different site in Kolkata that was related to Mukherjee.
• The sum retrieved from Club Town Heights, an apartment complex in the Belgharianeighborhood, may be more than previously reported, according to ED sources.
• When it comes to one property in an apartment complex, ED managed to get hands on some serious cash.
• Three note-counting devices have been delivered in order to acquire the correct amount.
• Additional items seized by the ED included gold bars, jewellery, and papers in addition to the cash.
As the keys to two Belgharia apartments related to Mukherjee couldn’t be discovered, ED officials had to break in, according to reports On July 23, a day after the first quantity of cash was found, Mukherjee was detained along with the Minister and supplied information that led to the search warrants.
During Chatterjee’s tenure as Education Minister, CBI agents are looking into allegations of irregularities in the recruitment of teachers at government sponsored and aided institutions, as directed by the Calcutta High Court. This case has a money trail that’s being followed by law enforcement.
They were transported to ESI Hospital in Kolkata earlier in the day for a medical check-up. Chatterjee refused to answer questions about his resignation when he spoke to the media. He inquired, “What is the reason?”
Manik Bhattacharya, the former president of the West Bengal Primary Education Board, is also being questioned by the ED in connection with this investigation.
• “They have plundered money and denied employment to eligible applicants,” BJP national vice president Dilip Ghosh remarked in response to the latest recovery.
• It is imperative that the perpetrators be held accountable. He called for the resignation of the state minister.
• Kunal Ghosh, the state party’s general secretary, said that the TMC would not represent anybody who was proven guilty by a court of law.
• An act of such heinousness beyond description. Anyone implicated in this will not be defended by the party.
• Ghosh remarked that if someone is proven guilty, they should be prosecuted.
While Mamata Banerjee was speaking at a ceremony in Kolkata, she lashed out at the “media trial” in the case.
“Anyone leading a large organization is bound to make blunders or errors from time to time. People are allowed to make mistakes… There will be repercussions and penalties for anybody found guilty of breaking the law. But there is a media trial against individuals before the courts can issue their decision,” she remarked.
