Tokyo claims that five Chinese missiles have landed in the country’s exclusive economic zone, with four of them flying over Taiwan’s main island, according to the report.

“I informed her that we had requested that the military exercises be immediately cancelled.”
To conclude her Asian visit, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is in Tokyo, which has enraged Beijing, which has conducted its largest-ever military manoeuvres surrounding Taiwan, which is run by the self-ruled island.
Her visit made it “unambiguously apparent,” she said afterwards, that the United States would not desert its democratic ally, despite the severe warnings she received from China before making the trip.
It is China’s goal to recapture Taiwan by force if necessary, and they see it as part of their territory.
Geopolitical topics such as North Korea, China, and Russia were addressed by Kishida and Pelosi during their meeting.
On her way back from a trip to the North Korean border in South Korea, another important US ally, Pelosi landed late on Thursday night. Since 2015, this is her first visit to Japan.
The Japanese government has sent a diplomatic complaint to Beijing over the ongoing military drills, which started on Thursday.
Okinawa, Japan’s southernmost province is located close to Taiwan, and islands at the centre of a long-running conflict between Tokyo and Beijing are also nearby.
The exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of Japan stretches out to a distance of 200 nautical miles from the country’s coast.
