Summer is becoming maybe my favourite sartorial season despite autumn being the most popular season for fashion-forward males. It is very appealing to me because of how minimal it is. It is a great way to live, but it does not have to be dull. The following are some instances of good style.
In honour of the upcoming arrival of summer, here are some items of clothing every man should have in his wardrobe. Here are my picks for the best summer wardrobe basics for guys, all in one place.
Scoop Neck Tee
An essential piece in every man’s wardrobe is a simple white T-shirt. Despite the fact that scoop neck tees do not receive much attention, I believe they are a great summer shirt. The scoop neck shirt has a distinctively broad neckline.
There are particular scoop necks that are a little too dramatic in how much the neckline drops. My personal preference is for a more modest neckline, which is more discreet than a standard crew neck but still stands out. Scoop neck tees have a looser fit and lighter fabric, making them excellent for a white tee in the summer.
Lightweight Chinos
A lighter shade of chino pants, such as the olive green pair seen above, would be the best option for summer. It is undoubtedly the star of the show but in a more subtle manner. Unlike a pair of kelly green shoes, this hue does not scream, “look at me.” Moreover, the light hue is perfectly timed for the sweltering heat of summer.
In this case, go for a slim fit or straight leg if your body type necessitates it. You may also cuff the bottom of the jeans a few times to give a look a more casual summer feel. If your chinos have a little give to them, all the better. Summer necessities for guys include a pair of light-coloured chinos.
The chino is a must-have item for every wardrobe. Chic or casual, a good pair of chinos can be dressed up or down depending on the situation (casual). Chinos provide the ideal blend between comfort and style.
Summerweight Blazer
A light beige or heather grey blazer is the first item on our list of summer staples for guys. Choose a shoulder with no structure (very thin or no padding at all). An unlined jacket is ideal since it allows for maximum airflow while being lightweight. Bring in some colour and texture with a cotton or linen pocket square for an elegant finishing touch. A white and blue gingham check is both fashionable and timeless this summer. An easy way to elevate a casual summer appearance from ordinary to handsome is to add this simple accessory.
Summer Shades
I rarely leave home without a pair of sunglasses with reflecting lenses in the summer. Because they keep the light out of your eyes and keep you fashionable, it is a no-brainer: Look stylish and hide your eyes at the same time with reflecting glasses.
As a safety net, I prefer to keep an extra set in the trunk of my vehicle. There is no limit to the number of choices you may make. I am wearing flare lens sunglasses with all three of these outfits. Summer hues have a dual purpose: practicality and aesthetic appeal. It does not matter if you choose the Wayfarer, the Clubmaster, the Aviator, or the round eye lens type; there are a plethora of options available. There is a look for every face shape.
Short-Sleeve Button-Down Shirt
As far as summer basics go, the button-down shirt is a must. I would say the short-sleeve button-down is the best option for the warmer months. Even t-shirts with colourful prints exude an “I am having a good time” atmosphere. Add some fun and whimsy to your outfit with a subtle design like a microdot pattern that will not draw attention to yourself. For me, cuffing the sleeves is a go-to summer style move. In addition to tapering the opening around my bicep, I enjoy how it resembles the cuff of my shorts. For this time of year, it is casual, laidback, and lightweight. This blue and white microdot patterned shirt is a must-have for summer. Consider wearing a printed button-down this summer if you have not already done so.
White Shorts
White shorts top the list of summer wardrobe staples for guys. In the summer, I like to wear beige and white, which are both neutral hues. Darker hues absorb heat, whereas lighter ones reflect it. In my opinion, white and blue are the ideal summer colour combination. Avoid wearing shorts that are too short for your legs. A few inches above the knee is ideal for me. White shorts are as informal as it gets when it comes to summer attire for me. As long as you pay attention to the fit, you will be just as fashionable as the others.
White Sneakers
According to my list of must-haves, white sneakers are a must-have for guys in the summer. My first shoe choice for summer is an all-white, low-top trainer in a classic shape. It is a shoe that can be dressed up or down, as shown here with a fitted suit, making it exceptionally adaptable. They are simple, uncluttered, and go well with a wide range of outfits. Avoid wearing them in grassy or muddy regions since they quickly become soiled and may be difficult to clean. I am drawn to white sneakers for their adaptability, simplicity, and convenience.
Tropical Shirt
For summer, nothing beats the Hawaiian shirt, often known as the flowery shirt, on guys. When it comes to summer attire, a tropical shirt is a must-have. Even though floral shirts are not for everyone, they are something every male should have in his closet. It is the ideal shirt for a long weekend at the beach or a week in the Bahamas. Keep the remainder of your outfit neutral to avoid clashing with the graphic on your shirt. This is why I matched the top with basic, cream-coloured shorts and traditional Sperrys. It is all fun and games here, and in some cases, that is precisely how things should be.
Polo Shirt
The polo shirt is a must-have for guys in the summer. I would go for a cotton polo with a premium touch, which is still 100% cotton but has a silky feel and look to it. These polo shirts are very soft and long-lasting. Choose a white, blue, or grey polo to keep things simple. The ideal fit is a balance between loose and tight, but neither too loose nor too tight. As an article of well-fitting clothing, it should be. Polo shirts are great for summer since they are both dressy and informal at the same time. The narrow cut of the pants or jeans complements them beautifully, whether worn beneath a jacket or on their own.
Linen Shorts
Finally, we have linen shorts, which are the second and last pair of summer shorts for guys. Temperatures rise, which necessitates lighter-weight clothing. In the summer, linen is the go-to material. It is all highly unassuming, from how it makes you feel to how it appears
Linen dries rapidly and is quite absorbent. You will not get it stuck to your skin since it is breathable and does not cling. It is lightweight, breathable, and quick to dry, making it the ideal summer fabric. There is an air of summer about this basketweave design. Even when it becomes wrinkled, it still has a certain allure for me. It is natural for linen to wrinkle, so do not worry about it.
Boat Shoes
The iconic boat shoe is a critical shoe on our list of summer staples for guys. I suggest a single pair of brown or blue boat shoes for maximum adaptability. Any man can pull it off with this sneaker. Investing in a nice pair of boots made of durable leather can get you through many seasons. Boat shoes do not need a boat or a vast body of water, but you will look great in them if you are. All summer long, I wear them, sometimes with no-show socks and other times without, depending on my mood. The low-profile design of the shoes makes them comfortable for wearing all day in shorts.
