Daymond John is an American businessman, entrepreneur, investor and motivational speaker. FUBU, a hip-hop clothing brand he founded, is run by him as CEO, president, and founder. John’s net worth is estimated to be over $350 million at this time. Daymond began working at the age of 10 and distributed posters. Following graduation, he worked at several odd jobs in order to help support his family. FUBU was established by John in his mother’s home, where he first learned how to sew. Passion and determination were the driving forces that propelled him to his current position in life. Here’s how Daymond John did it.

Self-made entrepreneur Daymond John understands what it takes to hustle. He’s a successful entrepreneur, author, and investor on the blockbuster ABC reality series Shark Tank. He is the creator and CEO of FUBU, as well as the founder of the Shark Group, which he founded.

Throughout his career, John was driven by an entrepreneurial spirit that was born out of his hard work and dedication. For example, as a teenager, John participated in a program that enabled him to work full time at Red Lobster and attend school on alternate weeks.

After graduating from high school, John started his entrepreneurial career by opening a commuter van business. However, he learnt to sew after seeing an unmet need in the apparel industry and went on to start the FUBU brand in his mother’s apartment. John sent the gear to rappers in New York, finally getting LL Cool J to wear a FUBU cap in a Gap ad.

In an instant, the FUBU brand started receiving orders, and it quickly became a big hit. Today, the brand has made more than $6 billion in revenue.. Moreover, you’ll be surprised to learn that The only way John was able to achieve all of this was by following his passions and trusting his instincts to guide him.

Early life

Daymond John was born in Brooklyn, New York, on February 19, 1969. He went to a catholic school for seven years. His parents split when he was only 20 years old. To help support his family, John began selling fliers for a $2 hourly wage at such a young age. It allowed him to work full time and go to school at the same time when he was in high school. Daymond John had an entrepreneurial mentality from the time he was a child. After graduating from high school, John launched a commuter van business and worked as a waiter at a restaurant. FUBU was founded by him and a group of pals in 1992.

John’s career and FUBU

When Daymond John had the notion to start a clothing brand for young guys in 1992, FUBU was born out of that vision. He also learned how to sew from his mother, who also allowed him to work at her home. When he first started selling his collection of roughly 90 hats on the streets of New York, he made them himself. They earned $800 in a single day. They first sold printed T-shirts, then caps. In addition to consignment sales, John also participated in a number of large-scale events. Daymond had to take a full-time job at a restaurant since FUBU was not enough to cover his expenses. A $100,000 mortgage on the family home was taken out by John and his mother as a means of raising more funds. To make FUBU even bigger, John began working extra hours and doing all in his power.

Starting with jerseys and T-shirts and sweaters, the FUBU emblem was embroidered on by him and his buddies. In addition, they rented their clothing to rappers for their music videos and received product placements from their collaborations. It lasted roughly two years. In 1994, Macy’s purchased $300,00 worth of merchandise. With his mother’s home as collateral, John borrowed money to fulfill the orders. 27 banks turned down the company’s request for a loan. Eventually, John’s mother gave up the last of her savings to pay for an ad in the New York Times. The company’s yearly revenue peaked at roughly $350 million. FUBU’s worldwide sales have already topped over $6 billion. Daymond John is a motivational speaker and consultant in addition to being an entrepreneur. Additional money is generated by working with many brands. The New York Times named him one of its “Best New Writers” in 2004.
