The Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday claimed to have foiled a narcotics and weapon smuggling bid by a drone along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab. “During the search in the area of village Ghaggar and Singhoke, two packets of yellow color with suspected contraband have been recovered so far,” the senior officer said.

Border Security Force jawans in Amritsar, Punjab, upset a terror attempt late on Tuesday when a drone dropped explosives at the Panjgrahian border outpost in Ajnala Tehsil. Alert jawans immediately opened fire at the drone. However, it managed to fly away towards Pakistan. Soon after the event, the BSF combed the area for any suspicious activity and found explosives at two spots. A larger search operation has now been flung.
Drones are regularly used by terror outfits from across the border to send explosives, weapons, cash, and drugs to India. Security forces have become more alert and often conduct anti-drone exercises along India’s borders. A pistol was also seen wrapped in the packet, and the consignment was found in the field about 2.7 km from the fence, the officer said. A search is on to find if the drone too was downed or if it escaped, he added.
