The world has seen one of the most significant adoptions of technology transformation, as consumers become more tech-savvy and enterprises concentrate on cutting-edge technology like AI and IoT-enabled goods.
Some of the most promising technological developments for the industry in 2022 may be found in the following list.
5G and Beyond
Consumers have begun to want more as we go towards a future where technology breakthroughs are commonplace. Keeping in touch has become more critical than ever before, whether for business, new possibilities, or just keeping in touch with old friends and family. Firms are developing more wireless technology to provide a better customer experience and enhance people’s lives by helping them interact with their friends, family, or for entertainment reasons in more spectacular and immersive ways. Speculation is rife that 5G will provide the groundwork for an intelligent and connected world beyond smartphones. New 5G+ advancements are expected to impact wireless technology in 2022 significantly. The creation of devices that can make use of this 5G infrastructure will increase due to these advances in performance, speed, and security.
Metaverse
Many corporate executives’ minds were opened to the Metaverse in 2021, a phrase that has been around for 30 years. A thousand-foot perspective of the problem was taken in our November 2021 piece, which also emphasized the advantages of the Enterprise Metaverse for professional users. The decentralized web3 component of the Metaverse with NFTs is now getting much attention, and it may be a little too much attention. Despite the hoopla, we think web3 and the Metaverse have significant potential to create new beneficial experiences for consumers and organizations with their own customized Corporate Metaverse locations. Additionally, there is the Actual-Environment Metaverse (the “AR Cloud,” or “Digital Twin”), which effectively creates a digital representation of our physical world with digital material that can be linked to real things and places. Real-world objects may anchor virtual material and allow it to be shared cross-platforms and even across time.
AI, spatial computing, and decentralized protocols like bitcoin are just starting to mature sufficiently for the Metaverse. Forrester and the rest of the world see tremendous growth potential in the Metaverse, so we have built a landing page dedicated to it. “The worldwide Metaverse revenue potential might surpass $800 billion in 2024 vs around $500 billion in 2020,” according to Bloomberg, a financial news service. Because of this, all of the big tech giants and a slew of startups are working on solutions in this area, and we have been taking advantage of them from their first previews to create unique ones for our clients. A recent TV interview on Arirang TV’s special new year broadcast, “2022: Year of the Virtual Renaissance, ” discussed our experiences and lessons learned at different international conferences.
Several crucial aspects of Spatial Computing are augmented reality, virtual reality, the Metaverse, and artificial intelligence. To understand more about these subjects, you should tune in to Arirang’s presentation, which was well-executed. South Korea’s Arirang TV is an English-language television network that broadcasts in 101 countries and reaches 150 million viewers. On January 14, 2022, at 8 p.m. KST, the programme aired its first episode.
Smart Devices
Aside from the industrial industry, IoT and Digital Twins are now making their way into a wide range of other businesses and their customers. When taken into account in the context of Smart Spaces, the issue takes on a whole new level of intrigue. Devices and sensors in intelligent spaces provide owners, tenants, and managers with real-time data on how the system is used. Often referred to as “smart cities,” this trend sees whole cities becoming more intelligent and resource-conscious. When traffic, people, robots, and other machinery need analytics and efficient management, intelligent spaces are a perfect solution across sectors. Innovative Spaces may add an intelligent digital layer to the physical world using the Real-Environment Metaverse technology.
For a long time, our R&I team has been generating material surrounding Spatial Computing, and we want to keep doing so since it is still an emerging technology that has the potential to fundamentally alter the way people interact with computers and the rest of the world. Artificial intelligence (AI), computer vision and improved sensors enable devices to perceive the natural environment and give more detailed context for AR, VR, and mixed reality (MR) situations. We have worked with Microsoft Mixed Reality for a long time, and our team has produced several creative solutions that have helped our customers achieve their goals.
Robotics
For several decades now, the industrial and medical industries have seen a steady rise in intelligent automation that includes robots. Many current robotics systems are challenging to programme stationary robots, such as robotic arms for welding, etc. We see autonomous mobile robots taking the place of stationary robots, making them simpler to train using machine teaching (AMR). According to predictions, mobile robots will account for 75% of all robots delivered globally by 2030. (6 out of 8 million). The Boston Dynamics Early Adopter Program for such SPOT robot dog, wherein the Reply Network has been used in unique situations with our customers, is at the forefront of this movement. In addition, we announced closer cooperation with Microsoft and a framework for mobile robots. This year promises to be filled with even more exciting developments, so check back often.
Digital Humans
When it comes to COVID-19 immunization certificates and other areas of healthcare and related utilization for a digital human virtual presence, we wrote about the concept of a “Digital Twin of the Person.” Users and their avatars are crucial to the success of metaverse realms. Having one’s own digital identity and online persona is crucial for moving freely between Metaverse locations. Open interoperability across Metaverse platforms is an issue since avatars are becoming the new social media profile image. Users’ Digital Human identities, including their virtual avatars, may be maintained throughout Metaverse areas via blockchain-powered decentralized identification systems. NFT might be utilized to connect the real avatar asset to virtual products and assets. Digital humans may go farther than this by using a wide range of data sources and delivering real-time insights. We are keeping a careful eye on this area, and we are attempting to tackle some of the ethical and privacy issues that are surfacing.
Quantum Computers
We have been following Quantum Computing for a while now, but we are still in the early stages, with a new Quantum computer slated to have 433 qubits by the end of 2022 and break the 1000-qubit barrier of 1121 qubits in 2023. Many analysts are pointing out that quantum computing is already being used in real-world scenarios. This advancement is only likely to accelerate exponentially over the next several years. The Quantum footprint will be expanded in 2022 (more to come). Quantum knowledge sharing will be continued with QuBites, our video podcast series in which professional speakers are interviewed to make the subject accessible to everyone (more coming in 2022). Since quantum computers will be strong enough to render today’s encryption techniques useless in the next five to thirty years, Season 3 of Quantum Security focused on that topic in part (the basis of our security and privacy). Zero-trust models and crypto agility are essential for business leaders to prepare their (security) infrastructure.
Quantum Machine Learning (QML) is a relatively young and promising subject that has already shown considerable advantages, even with the Quantum hardware in its infancy today, even if it is still in its infancy.
Artificial Intelligence
2022 is when the use of artificial intelligence will transcend beyond experimentation and become vital. A lot of fascinating things are happening in artificial intelligence this year, thanks to increased funding and research. In the future, AI will be incorporated into our daily lives in more novel ways. Even though technology has already had a significant impact on many disciplines of research and business, it is sometimes neglected that intelligent devices may also make their way into everyday life. As AI and ML continue their journey toward becoming the most disruptive but transformational technology ever invented, 2022 will be a pivotal year for the future of our world.
Over 2000 current and well-paid postings for machine learning engineers and programmers may be found on LinkedIn. There may be job losses due to increasing automation, but there are also predicted to be over 58 million new opportunities created by 2030.
